We foster dog through several local rescues. Each new dog has their own unique personality and backstory. We take them in some just need a transition home on their way to their furever home. Others Training, learning to trust, or just some love.

Link helps teach them how to dog. He lays down the law of the house. Younger ones he teaches, older ones he plays with. Some he likes, some not so much. But through it all he protects his brother Corbin and sister Cheshire.

Cheshire

Corbin

Link thinks the man cave is room. He teaches the fosters how to nap in style. Whenever the house gets real quite we often find them lounging on the couch.

This is Amber our first foster. She was a Lucky Pup Rescue SC foster pup. We only had her a few weeks before she was adopted. A great local couple who spoil her rotten.

Each foster has a different personality. But they all loose toys under the furniture. Some lay down and paw to get them out others whine and whimper. I had one that tried to swat and scratch at the couch to move it. I was tired of crawling on my hands and knees and getting out the pole to fetch toys only to turn around 5 minutes later and have to do it all over.

This girl is Astrid. She was a spunky girl who rescued an amazing family. She now has a fur brother, 2 human brothers and a human sister.

Benelli

Cheyenne

With fosters we rarely know much about their personalities, temperaments, quirks, aggression, etc. We have worked hard for what we have. No hand out here. So we don’t want to have it destroyed. We also agreed that our animals are our first priority. So I have ways to section off parts of the house. Safe areas the cats or link can retreat to if they want or need a break.

Sarah

This girl 10 week old girl was found at a local landfill. She was pulled from the shelter that day and brought to us. She had parvo but we caught it withing the first days of symptoms appearing. She is happy and healthy again.

Our daughter found Cheshire near the railroad tracks. She was just a baby eyes barely opened. she’s now 10 years old.

Cam

This fun loving guy is one of those dogs that is just always happy. He always smiles and his tail is always wagging. Even if he’s in trouble he’s happy.

He loves to play, loves every one and anything. If you want to chill, he’s right there to keep you warm. You want to run, hike, be on the lake, he’s happy to keep you company.

The family that adopted him now fosters for Luck Pup Rescue SC also.

I still see Cam when his family goes on vacation.

Cheyenne

This beautiful girl is was a 6 month old red husky. She was brought into the rescue because she was abandoned in a ladies front yard with her sister at about 5 weeks old. The lady found a home for her sister quickly and planned to keep Cheyenne. Cheyenne’s mommy decided in the long run it was better for her to have room to run. So she contacted us. One of our volunteers adopted Cheyenne now named Mina. She has 2 amazing dads and several kitty brothers and sisters.

Citori

This beautiful little girl was about 8 weeks old. Her and her brother Kyzer where brought into a local vet by a man who found them and was unable to keep them. He paid for their first round of shots, dewormer, and flee treatment. One of the vet techs is a volunteer with out group and brought them into the rescue.

These little nuggets were our first fosters through another local rescue Dog Gone Shelter Intervention. They are sisters and were only 6 weeks old. Originally we were only going to have them a few weeks. However the country shut down due to the Corona virus before they could catch a ride north. We had the pleasure of watching them grow until they were adopted locally.

Mishka

A beautiful young husky. Mishka’s family surrendered her because they had a huge life changes.

She’s a happy, loving girl who loved everyone she meet. She’s very playful. She loved Link and wore him down until her let her snuggle.

Rori

Our longest foster is this goofy shepherd mix. This poor girl was about 5 when we fostered her. She was given away by her first owner. The lady that took her didn’t want her. the second owner, called one of her friends who is part of our group. Rather than telling the truth, she made up a story of how she found her and couldn’t keep her.

She had some issues. She did fine in her first foster home until after they went on vacation. Before their vacation she had 2 meet and greets. One she pooped on their current puppy. I don’t believe this was on purpose. My feeling is that the puppy, being a puppy got to close as Rori was doing her business. The second, they adopted her and took her home. They called within 14 hours to return her. The problem they has was that  tried to play ball with her and their current dog, without any get to know you or decompression time. She attacked their dog when he went to fetch the ball. Everyone, including foster dogs need time to learn their new surrounding. Time to get to know the new people, animals, rules, etc. She then came to us for foster relief while her foster family was on vacation. When they took her back, she bull rushed one of their dogs. We were asked if we could take over fostering; Of course we did. When she returned to us, her and Link had to re-establish who was boss.

She grew protective of all of us including Link and the cats. We had other fosters in and out that she did great with. However, Aslan a papillon mix with little dog syndrome was not one of them. He was a very angry aggressive jerk. He tried to attack Link; Rori stepped in to guard Link.

She was great with Citori and every other foster we had. She was great with kids and leash walking. She could even be out without a leash and stayed in the yard.

She did find the perfect home and really is one lucky pup. Her new family is a Florida couple who’s retired. When she saw them, she ran to them and I could tell she knew they were her family. They have something like 2 acres for her to patrol. They travel and she gets to go with them. They send updates every so often and it’s wonderful to see how happy and loved she is.
